To identify your unit, check the data plate mounted on the electrical subpanel door or the mechanical chase access panel. The plate lists the serial, the module size (typically 400, 600, or 800 square feet), and the “Envelope Revision” letter. Revision A and B units have the older gasket profile; Revision C and later use the double-flange EPDM seal that performs better in Chino’s 110°F summer cycles but is not backward-compatible. • Floor system squeaking or feeling “soft” at the perimeter. The module-to-foundation anchor bolts on Cover’s 600 and 800 square foot units are spaced at 48 inches. If the sill gasket compresses unevenly - common where Chino’s expansive clay soil has shifted the slab - the frame torques and the subfloor delaminates slightly at the rim joist. The symptom is localized flex, not structural failure, but it worsens until the anchor is shimmed and the gasket replaced.
• Exterior panel finish chalking or delaminating prematurely. Cover’s factory-applied Kynar coating is rated for 2,000 UV hours, which translates to roughly 12-14 years in Chino’s inland exposure. Units installed without adequate roof overhang or with south-facing walls unshaded often show chalking at 7-9 years. This is cosmetic until the substrate is exposed, but the panel replacement window is narrow: once moisture breaches the coating, the galvanized steel substrate pits rapidly.
